Why Playing it Safe is the Most Dangerous Career Move You Can Make.
Discover why staying in your comfort zone could be the riskiest decision you’ll ever make for your career.
Playing it safe feels good, feels comfortable.
You stay in your lane, avoid risks, don’t need to use your brain, and keep things predictable.
But it is actually the most dangerous career move you can make.
The world around you is moving forward.
Your peers are taking risks, learning new skills, and seizing opportunities. Meanwhile, you are staying still.
We can’t have that happen. Especially because you are subscribed here.
We will all win.
Comfort zones are career traps. They lure you in with a false sense of security (in the short-term). In reality, they are holding you back from achieving your full potential - your full worth.

What are the risks of playing it safe?
You become invisible. When you’re always doing what is expected, you blend in. A fly on the wall. Sure, you are reliable but you are also forgettable.
You miss out on growth. Growth is directly proportional to how much you are worth. Challenge yourself a little at a time.
You limit your opportunities. Sometimes, the best ones actually come disguised as risks. If you are too afraid, you will never know what you are missing out on. Take calculated risks.
You fall behind. New tech, new ways of working, new ways of thinking - jeez, if you aren’t learning and adapting, you are not going to make it.

How to break free from the safety trap?
Say yes to a new challenge. Take the chance. The more you do it, the more confident you become.
Invest in continuous learning. Identify the areas where you want to grow and start learning. Don’t wait for someone to tell you what skills you need.
Network outside your comfort zone. It is easy to network with people you already know. But the real value comes from building relationships with those outside your usual circles.
Embrace failure as part of the process. The fear of failure keeps too many people playing it safe. We only get one life to live. So LIVE.
Set big goals. Stop aiming for what is achievable and start aiming for more. Set goals that scare you, that challenge you, that force you to grow. When you aim high, even if you fall short, you actually are further ahead than if you played it safe.
Listen, the biggest risk is really not taking any risks at all. The corporate world rewards those who are bold, who take risks, and who push the boundaries.
Trust me on this,
Mary
