Let me guarantee you one thing in life - FOR FREE. Go grab your coffee. It's going to be a good one.
Well hello there Mary,
Ever had an urge to do something but didn't?
Probably because you weren't sure if it would work out.
So it was easier to not bother.
I've been there. It wasn't from a lack of confidence.
I just wanted certainty that my efforts would pay off.
I saw a paid program that guaranteed X results if I followed their framework (a framework that was pretty much free online).
But I immediately said "Sign me up!" and paid the extra $$.
Anyone else do the same?
This got me thinking - why did I need a guarantee to do something I wanted?

Truth is, I wanted control over the uncontrollable. I wanted surefire results even if my effort level was the same with or without the guarantee.
This hunger for guarantees is more about fear of failure. We were taught to believe that with enough planning and the right strategies, we can steer the outcome in our favor. But life, with its endless possibilities, rarely follows such straightforward rules.
What I realized is that guarantees offer an illusion of safety - a sort of mental security blanket. But here's the kicker: they often limit our potential. By only pursuing paths with guaranteed outcomes, we confine ourselves to a very narrow field of possibilities.
Here's what to do instead:
Embrace uncertainty. The unknown is where you find creativity, resilience, and our true potential. The best plans are the ones not planned.
Focus on the process, not just the outcome. Easier said than done. But not impossible.
Take calculated risks. How much do you lose vs gain? I would invest in a stock if the downside is 10% and the upside is 3x. Same concept for other decisions in my life.
In the end, it's not about guarantees but about becoming comfortable with uncertainty and trusting in our ability to navigate it. Some of the most rewarding experiences come from taking chances (I mean...where else do all my stories come from).
Next time you find yourself hesitating, ask yourself: What could I gain by simply taking the leap?
What's holding you back? What guarantee do you need to take that next step?
Let me know and I'll see if I can throw in a guarantee for you.
Yours Truly,
Mary F
