Can We Stop It with the Work-Life Balance BS Already? That Doesn’t Exist

Still chasing the work-life balance dream? Stop wasting your time please.

Can we stop it with the work-life balance BS already? That doesn’t exist.

For years, we’ve been sold this idea that if we just find the right balance between work and personal life, everything will magically fall into place.

Companies even milk this concept of “work-life”

Why work-life balance is total bolony?

Just the idea that you can neatly divide your day into “work” and “life” is laughable.

  1. It is a fantasy.

Seriously, who actually manages to keep work and life perfectly separate? Your work doesn’t stop when you leave the office. And you life doesn’t pause when you start your workday. These two world constantly collide.

  2. It is a guilt trip in disguise.

The pursuit of balance often just leads to feeling like crap. When you are working, you feel guilty for not spending time with your family. When you are with your family, you are stressing about work. You can’t win!

  3. It is holding you back.

The whole concept of “balance” makes it seem like work and life are enemies fighting for your time. What if we let them work together? Integrate the two and have them enhance the other.

Then what is the solution?

I will keep pounding the table on this. Integration is the way!

Create flexibility that works for you. Want to take a break in the middle of the day to hit the gym? Go for it.

Need to work a few hours in the evening instead of the morning? Make it happen.

Integration lets you design your day around your life, not the other way around.

When you stop trying to force balance and start integrating work and life, your stress actually starts to fade. Instead of battling to keep the two separate, you find a flow that lets you be fully present in whatever you are doing.

Think about it - integration is the best of both worlds.

Let your work and your life complement and elevate each other.

So, could we just stop it with the work-life balance non-sense already?

No time for BS,

Mary
